How to Choose Colored Contact Lenses Online

air optix freshlook expressions

Ever wondered how you would look with different-colored eyes?  How about a mysterious gray?  Maybe a brilliant blue, or a sweet honey brown would be fun to try!  And if you’re happy with your eye color, maybe you want to jazz things up a bit by emphasizing the depth or size of your eyes.

(Psst… don’t need vision correction?  Just set the power to 0.00 when ordering and they won’t affect your vision at all!)

Colored Contact Lenses: How to Choose Them Online

1. Do you have dark or light eyes?

Want a natural change for your dark eyes?  Try a light hazel or honey.

Looking for something more dramatic?  Bright colors like green or blue will create a striking effect, particularly if you have dark coloring.

If your eyes are light (such as green), you can try other light colors (such as gray or blue) for a natural, fun change.

For a striking change that everyone notices right away, try a warm-toned color like light brown against a cool complexion.

2. Do you want to change your eye color or enhance what’s already there?

Q. Are your colored contact lenses safe to use?
A. All our contact lenses are sourced from major manufacturers who perform stringent quality checks and have obtained official certifications from Health Canada.

Q. Are there colored lenses for astigmatism?
A. We are sorry to say that we currently do not offer any colored lenses for astigmatism.

Q. Can I exchange used contact lenses with my friends?
A. Never do so.  Harmful bacteria can be transmitted this way, and can lead to dangerous eye-infections.

Q. Do I still need to take proper care of my colored contact lenses?
A. Yes!  Even when used at plano (0.00 power) for cosmetic purposes, contact lenses are still medical devices that are placed directly on your eyes.  Use proper procedures such as keeping your non-daily lenses in sterile solution in contact lens cases, and wash your hands carefully before putting them on.

Understanding Your Cart

online contacts canada

Wondering why your cart looks the way it does?

1. Your cart

Here’s what your cart layout looks like.

2. Product Header

This tells you:

  • The product line ordered
  • The prescription you put in for this product (this is a great time to double-check that it’s correct!  If it’s wrong, please delete it and reorder as you cannot edit it in the cart. )
  • The total cost for all boxes of this product you ordered

The ‘quantity’ for the product header is ‘1’ by default. Setting it to ‘0’ will remove all the boxes of this product from your cart.

3. Box/ Pack Quantity

This shows you the number of boxes you ordered for each eye. This is a great time to make sure you ordered the correct quantity that you wanted.

4. Update Cart

If you make any changes in the box quantity, click ‘Update Cart’ to see the new subtotal.

Custom Order Lenses

contacts online canada xr

What are custom order lenses?

Custom order/ special lenses are lenses that are made to order by the manufacturer especially to fit your eyes.   We place the order with the manufacturer according to the prescription that you filled in, so please be extra careful in filling out your prescription!

How long do they take to make?

They take an average of 2-4 weeks to be manufactured (a little longer for Optima Toric lenses).  They can sometimes be completed sooner, but there is no guarantee.  This is completely up to the manufacturer.

The list of custom order lenses available for order are as follows:

Can I modify/ cancel/ return/ exchange my order of custom order lenses?

Unfortunately, this is not possible.  Custom order lenses are custom-made to your order and are therefore final.  They cannot be modified or cancelled once we’ve placed your order with the manufacturer to create for you.  For the same reason, they also cannot be returned or exchanged even with the box unopened.  (See our return policy.)

Q. Do I need to fill in all the blanks?

A. Yes!  If you leave anything blank for a box you are ordering, we will contact you later to get the missing prescription numbers from you.  Please note that this will cause a delay in processing your order.

Q. I cannot find the exact numbers from my prescription when ordering.

A.  There are 4 possible reasons:

1. Are you trying to use a prescription for eyeglasses ?  Please note that eyeglass prescriptions will be completely different from contact lens prescriptions, as the glasses sit on your nose while the contact lenses have to safely fit your eye.  You need to sit down with your optometrist for a contact lens fitting, where you get a pair of trial contact lenses to see if they suit you first.

2. Are you trying to use a prescription for a different product line of contact lenses?  Please note a prescription for one product line may not fit other product lines.  This is because the parameters for one product line are not always available on another.  (Note also that different product lines are manufactured from different materials, which may possibly irritate your eyes if you don’t check with your doctor first.)

Check out this video from our CEO explaining why it’s important to get a contact lens prescription before you buy contact lenses online.

3.  Is your prescription up to date? Some measurements are sometimes phased out by manufacturers.

4. If you have an up-to-date contact lens prescription specifically for that product line and our website doesn’t have it, it’s also possible that it’s a new range of measurements recently added by the manufacturer.  In which case, please let us know!  We’ll fix it right away and give you a special thank you coupon for the heads up!

Q. How do I know if my prescription is for contact lenses and if it is up to date?

A. A contact lens prescription will always have a base curve (BC) and a diameter (DIA).  It will also usually include the name of the contact lens brand.

Please refer to the date of expiry stated on your prescription.  If none is provided, the standard date of expiry for a contact lens prescription is usually 1 year.

Q. Do I need to send you a copy of my prescription when ordering?

A. Nope!*  Just place your order and you’re set.

*The only time we may request a copy of your up-to-date contact lens prescription is if you report to us experiencing issues with your lenses, as this is part of the information we need to collect for the manufacturer.

Q. I need help placing my order.  Can you help me?

A. Absolutely!  Just call us at 1-855-909-2772 to place your order over the phone with us. (Or we can walk you through it over the phone if you prefer.)

Q. I have more questions!  Can I comment here?

A. Yes, we’ll answer when we see it!  But for a quicker reply, please email us at  We’ll get back to you by the next business day!  (Please check your Junk mail if you don’t see our reply by then.)
