NEW: Acuvue Oasys with Transitions

Acuvue Oasys with Transitions ContactsNow available in online in Canada here at Contactsforless.ca, this innovative product has been long-awaited by many contact lens wearers. ACUVUE® OASYS with Transitions™ is the first lens of its kind. These lenses utilize ACUVUE’s Light Intelligent Technology, filtering and reducing the eyes exposure to bright indoor and outdoor light while also cutting the blue light produced by out screens.

Transitions are activated by either UV or HEV light and these lens are ideal from people who are sensitive to light and need a little protection when wearing sunglasses is not feasible. It is important to note that these lenses are not a replacement for sunglasses as they do not protect the entire eye from UV rays, nor do they transition when inside a car, it is recommended for the lenses to be worn with non-prescription sunglasses when possible.

How does Transitions look on my eye? Does it get dark?

The lenses become darker when activated by UV and/or HEV light. They were specifically designed to provide patient benefits while minimizing the change to the appearance of the eye. While outdoors, the level of activation is always changing in response to the light, so in most situations the lens isn’t in the darkest state. These lenses also fade back to clear quickly when you come inside.

Is this new lens offering a sunglasses replacement? Can you use them with sunglasses?

ACUVUE OASYS® with Transitions™ are not intended to be used as a replacement for sunglasses. However, they can be worn with non-prescription sunglasses. While these lenses do provide UV protection to the areas they cover, other parts of the eye and surrounding areas are still exposed to UV light. Sunglasses help to protect the entire eye.

Does the lens activate in indoor light or only outdoor UV light?

The lens activates in both indoor and UV light. Even when this lens appears clear, it is working and adapting to different lighting conditions.

Does it work behind the windshield?

While photochromic lenses react to UV light, car windshields block nearly 100% of UV light. It is important to note that ACUVUE OASYS® with Transitions™ are not a replacement for sunglasses, but they can be worn with non-prescription sunglasses.

How to buy contact lenses online in Canada

You can buy your contacts online Canada

Buying contact lenses online in Canada is not as easy-breezy as some would like to think.

There are issues to be concerned about when buying contacts online. Such as “Grey Market” (overseas market) importers selling unauthorized products, there is the issue of “fit” and “shape” of the lens. There are issues related to the health of your eye and even concerns about how to NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Here is our Owner & CEO, Paul W. Slusher – back by popular demand. This video pretty much hits all the main concerns you will have about buying contact lenses online, here in Canada or anywhere else really.

Beware some online contact lens websites in Canada

Beware: Grey Market Contact Lenses Are Being Sold in Canada

Some online contact lens websites in Canada are not authorized sellers of contact lenses. This should concern you as a buyer of contacts online! As the Canadian Association of Optometrists warns “Overseas distribution channels may have grey market (counterfeit) product. There are no controls to ensure that Internet sites source lenses directly from the manufacturer.”

Beware some online sellers in Canada

This means that some websites may be buying their contact lenses from places like China, Vietnam, India, The Philippines or other nations where false or counterfeit contacts can be produced and distributed here in Canada. Moreover, the quality controls are sorely lacking, meaning that “grey market” lenses that say Acuvue, Biofinity, Air Optix or other brand names, may or may not be real or may be produced with substandard quality controls.

These manufacturers are NOT to blame, they are doing their jobs properly. It is overseas, unauthorized producers and the online sites who are putting these “grey market” products into your hands. Beware, because this could be a serious issue! Using the right products by the actual manufacturer is critically important!

Who are these sites?

You would be very surprised which sites are engaging in unethical “grey market” contact lens distribution. We know who many of them are, but we won’t tell you for fear of expensive and debilitating lawsuits from them in order to shut us up. We wish we could call them out by name, but we know that we would immediately have to defend million dollar plus lawsuits that as a small company, we simply cannot afford. This is one way larger companies keep smaller, ethical companies like ourselves silent and afraid.

Some contact lens sites are lying to you

In fact some of these sites even falsely claim to be “authorized” resellers, when in fact they are not. How can this be? Well – sadly – such unethical actions are not yet illegal here in Canada or in any of the provinces. Since British Columbia de-regulated the sale of online contact lenses, the nation now can have access to legitimate, safe and affordable contact lenses from the established manufacturers (Johnson & Johnson, Alcon, Coopervision & Bausch + Lomb).

However, without a federal law punishing false claims about the origins of where they receive their contact lenses, “grey market” or “counterfeit” lenses can be sold without recourse or penalty.

What can you do?

Make sure you always buy your contacts lenses from authorized contact lens sellers, such as Contactsforless.ca, Clearly.ca, Costco and a few others. If you are not sure, stick to the main sites like those mentioned above to ensure you are not supporting “grey market” sellers.

…and always remember that from day 1 – Contactsforless.ca has been as ethical, honest and transparent as possible. We have NEVER engaged in “grey market” or “counterfeit” contact lens sales and have ALWAYS given away 51% (or more) of all net profits to help save the planet. Not one other company can make that claim.

Stay ethical and safe. Always buy your contact lenses with Contactsforless.ca and be sure you are doing the right thing for yourself, for Canada, and the World.
